Zuru hospital Tragedy: Idris orders probe into mysterious death of 2 children

By Victor Ahiuma-Young Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, has ordered an immediate investigation into the mysterious death of two children at the General Hospital, Zuru. The Governor in a swift response to the tragic incident, has constituted a special committee to unravel the circumstances surrounding the deaths, amid allegations that the children may have died following a wrongful injection. A statement by Special Adviser, SA, on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Yahaya Sarki, informed that the committee was given one week to submit its report and directed to commence work immediately without delay According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Yakubu Tafida, yesterday in Birnin Kebbi, the committee is chaired by the Commissioner for Information, Yakubu Ahmed . Other members include the Commissioner for Health, Sama’ila Augie, and the Commissioner for Establishment, Manu Dogondaji, while the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Zaki Abubakar Zaki, will serve as Secretary. The statement read: “The committee is to investigate the remote and immediate probable causes of the death of the two children, who are from the same father; identify all those directly or indirectly connected with the incident, in line with allegations that they were victims of a wrongful injection allegedly administered to them; apportion appropriate blame where necessary; and make recommendations to avert future occurrences. “The committee has been given one week to submit its report and has been directed to commence work immediately without delay.” The government’s move follows growing concern and public outcry over the incident, which has raised questions about medical practices and patient safety at the facility. Governor Idris, through the directive, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting the lives of citizens and ensuring accountability in the state’s healthcare system.
