.. Distributes Relief to 30,000 Households By Ndahi Marama, Maiduguri Professor Babagana Umara Zulum spent Saturday night in Pulka, coordinating security operations following recent attacks in Ngoshe, Pulka, and surrounding communities in Gwoza Local Government Area. This marks the first time a sitting governor has slept in Pulka, located about 22 kilometres from Gwoza town. Governor Zulum held a security meeting with the Brigade Commander, military officers, security personnel, and civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) to discuss strategies for strengthening security in the area. “Leadership is not about living in your comfort zone and addressing people’s concerns from afar, but coming directly to the doorsteps of the less privileged. This has been my tradition and culture since assuming office,” Zulum said. In addition to overseeing security operations, the governor distributed cash, food, and non-food items to over 30,000 affected households in Ngoshe and Pulka. Each male and female head of household in Ngoshe received ₦30,000, while married women were given ₦20,000. Relief items also included mattresses, clothing, rice, maize, guinea corn, and plastic mats. The governor acknowledged the support of the Federal Government and Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who donated 30,000 bags of 10kg rice to assist vulnerable populations in the state. Pulka community benefited from this contribution, alongside other affected areas. Zulum called on residents to remain patient and cooperate with security agencies, emphasizing that community information is critical for addressing insecurity. Members of the governor’s entourage included Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, Hon. Ahmed Jaha, Hon. Bukar Talba, relevant state commissioners, special advisers, and other officials involved in the relief and security operations.
