Nollywood actress-turned-evangelist Tonto Dikeh has paid glowing tribute to her former husband, Olakunle Churchill, in a heartfelt Mother’s Day message shared on Sunday. Posting on her Instagram Story, Tonto Dikeh thanked Churchill for giving her the gift of motherhood, describing it as “the most beautiful part of my story”. She also referred to the businessman as her friend and prayed for God’s blessings on him and his mother. “Thank you, my Gee, for making me a mother. One of the most beautiful part of my story, and happy mothers day to your amazing mother. God bless you, Big Church,” she wrote. The actress also fired back at critics who felt she was overpraising her ex-husband, insisting that her gratitude comes from a deeply personal place and would not be shaped by public opinion. She further suggested that both of them now share a healthy co-parenting relationship. “Doing to much? For the only man who has put a child in me? The world is truly a sick place, and I’m gratefull don’t let your opinions direct me,” she wrote. “When e reach your turn don’t thank them. How wld you understand the meaning of joy/peace that makes no sense, how wid you understand healthy Co-parenting, if I don’t show you all.” Dikeh and Churchill were married before their relationship ended in a highly publicised split in 2017. Despite their rocky past, the actress recently revealed that they have now “buried the hatchet”. Churchill went on to marry Rosy Meurer, his former personal assistant, in 2021. The couple welcomed their first child in March 2021 and their second child in October 2022. In 2023, Churchill also dismissed rumours suggesting there were problems in his marriage to Meurer.
