Wike dismisses ADC as ‘fake, nonexistent’ in FCT

2026-03-03 - 15:27

By Omeiza Ajayi Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has declared the African Democratic Congress, ADC, “fake and nonexistent” in the nation’s capital, asserting that a party unable to win a single councillorship seat cannot claim any political relevance. Wike made these remarks on Tuesday during a “thank-you” visit to the Bwari Area Council, following the recent council elections. Addressing a crowd of supporters and traditional rulers, the minister took a swipe at opposition figures who he claimed only associate with the masses for optics, such as buying corn or groundnuts on the roadside, while failing to deliver infrastructure during their time in office. “I don’t know fake people. I carry a party; they say they are a national party, yet they cannot win a single councillorship. Is that a party? A party that cannot win one out of sixty-two wards? That is not a party. The ruling party today is the APC, and the opposition party is our own party, the PDP. All the other ones, I don’t know where they stand”, he declared. The minister emphasized that the era of “reading love magazines” while in office is over, stating that the President Bola Tinubu administration is committed to leaders who understand the people’s hunger and anger. He reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Bwari, specifically pledging to complete the ongoing Bwari-Kubwa road project before the end of 2026. “Agreement is agreement. You have fulfilled your part of the agreement by supporting the president’s candidates. Now, it is my turn to fulfill mine. “The road we are doing from Bwari to Kubwa — we will finish it this year. We are going to work with the new chairman, Joshua, because I want someone who understands me, and I want someone I will understand”, he said. In his response, the Chairman-elect of Bwari Area Council, Joshua Ishaku, described the minister’s visit as a rare act of humility. He noted that while the council was preparing to visit the minister in his office to express gratitude, Wike chose to come to them instead. “We are overwhelmed. Sir, you are a humble leader and a father. We can see, feel, and touch the developmental strides you have made in just two years. As obedient followers, we followed your instructions, and it is no wonder Bwari was the first election result to be declared”, he said. The Chairman-elect further pledged the total support of the Bwari people for the “Renewed Hope” mandate, promising to leave no stone unturned for the administration ahead of the 2027 general elections. He urged the minister to continue his “Mr. Project” legacy by building more schools and hospitals to “develop the Bwari of our dreams.” Vanguard News
