By Umar Yusuf, Yola ADAMAWA — Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the larger interest of the people of the state as the driving factor. Speaking in a statewide broadcast early Friday, Fintiri emphasized that the move was motivated by a desire to ensure the welfare and development of Adamawa residents. “This defection is anchored on the desire to ensure the welfare and development of our people. I urge everyone to remain steadfast and give the government the support and understanding necessary to realize the dividends of democracy,” he said. The governor also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for efforts in reviving the national economy, pledging to work closely with the federal government to deliver results for the state. Fintiri’s announcement ends weeks of speculation about his political alignment and confirms his shift from the PDP to the APC. “Our goal remains the growth and development of Adamawa, and this step allows us to collaborate with the federal government to advance our people’s interests,” he added.
