By Ugochukwu Alaribe Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Benjamin Kalu, has said that the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State has what it takes to win the 2027 general elections in the state. Kalu, who stated this in an interview with newsmen after the APC State Congress in Umuahia, explained that, following the peaceful conduct of the Congress at the ward, Local government, and state levels, and the calibre of people in the party, APC will win the state in the 2027 general elections. Former Minority leader of the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, was chosen by consensus as the new Chairman of the Abia APC, while Chidi Avoaja emerged as Secretary, Uche Aguoru as publicity secretary, among others. Kalu insisted that something new has entered the history of political party administration in the state, adding that the consensus arrangement, which allowed party leaders at every level to nominate candidates, was an indication that APC has been returned to the people. He said,”With the Congress concluded, APC is now stronger in Abia State and can now break the wall and is ready to win elections. “Abia is ready for President Bola Tinubu and is ready to give him the votes he is looking for. We are not going to negotiate with anybody to get Mr. President 25 percent of the votes in Abia; we have the capacity and capability to give him over 80 percent of the votes in 2027. We have what it takes to win Abia in 2027. “We don’t have time with anybody or those talking on social media because they have not even put their house in order, until when they do that, then we know what to tell them. “But all I have to tell now is that in 2027, we will prove a point that we have all it takes to win Abia in 2027. “What we have done today is not rally, Abia should get ready, Abia APC rally is coming where the President, his vice and other leaders of the party will come to speak.” The Deputy Speaker disclosed that Southern Nigeria has no other presidential candidate except Tinubu and urged the people to support him. While addressing party faithful at the occasion, the National Welfare Officer of APC, Chief Donatus Nwankpa, lauded Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the Minister of State for Labour, Hon Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, and other leaders of the party for ensuring the success of the Congress. Nwankpa said he had no doubt that with such leaders, APC will produce the next Governor in Abia come 2027. The National Committee for the Abia Congress, Emmanuel Go’ar, commended the Local Organizing Committee for the Congress, led by Chief Marc Wabara, for its great work. Others who spoke at the occasion commended the party’s leaders for uniting the warring factions and pledged support for the new executive committee.
