Topfaith Varsity, DUFUHS collaborate to advance health education

By Egufe Yafugborhi UBURU – TOPFAITH University, Mkpatak, Akwa Ibom State and David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), Uburu, Ebonyi State have reached understanding on academic and research collaboration to advance health education between both institutions. The mutual agreement was reached yesterday when a delegation of Topfaith University visited DUFUHS, signaling what both institutions considered a historic synergy in Nigerian medical education. The interaction at the main campus of DUFUHS brought together principal officers of both universities to explore areas of convergence to benefit students, faculty, and the wider healthcare system. The Vice-Chancellor (VC), Topfaith University, Prof Patrick Ebewo who led his management on the visit, noted, “The synergy is geared towards establishing a robust framework for mutual academic and research collaboration between both institutions. “For Topfaith, as a young but buzzing university poised to reach the top in the delivery of academic and professional goods in commitment to producing well-rounded graduates, we pledge to empower our graduates with viable skills, good character, and relevant knowledge needed to restore the dignity of humankind.” He expressed gratitude to the chief host, Prof Jesse Uneke, VC of DUFUHS, and the entire university management for the warm reception. Prof Uneke, the host VC commended Dr. Emmanuel Abraham, Chairman Board of Trustees at Topfaith for the vision to birth the institution along with its chain nursery and secondary schools. On the collaboration between both institutions, Uneke pledged DUFUHS’ commitment to partner Topfaith University in laying a solid foundation for its nascent Faculty of Medical Sciences. “We are ready to share knowledge and resources at our Renal, Cancer, and Eye Specialists Centres of Excellence, where state-of-the-art research and training are available,” he assured. He listed the partnership opportunities to include staff and student exchange programmes, collaborative research, joint grant applications, and curriculum benchmarking in pursuit of “shared goals and aspirations between the two institutions.” Topfaith Board’s Chairman and founder, Dr. Abraham described the University’s partnership outreach as “intentional, methodical, innovative, and apostolic.” He further offered to share Topfaith’s flagship curriculum on Character and Leadership Education with DUFUHS, to bolster character development training amongst its students and turn out doctors not only clinically sound but ethically grounded. The inaugural meeting concluded with a shared vision to formalize discussions through a Memorandum of Understanding that will guide the partnership. The collaboration is expected to strengthen Topfaith University’s medical programmes while providing DUFUHS with a strategic partner for expanding its research impact and academic reach.
