By Ibrahim Hassan-Wuyo, Kaduna Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has attributed the successes of his administration over the past two and a half years to the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The governor made the disclosure on Wednesday night while hosting social media influencers to Iftar, the breaking of the Ramadan fast, in Kaduna. “By the grace of God, in the next two months, we will commence construction of the $200 million Nigeria–China poultry project — the biggest in Sub-Saharan Africa,” he said. The project is expected to create 350 direct jobs, 150,000 indirect jobs, and support over 10,000 small businesses across the state. Uba Sani also announced that Kaduna will be the first state outside Lagos to have a light rail system, crediting the development to President Tinubu’s backing. The groundbreaking ceremony for the project is slated for May. The governor praised social media influencers for amplifying the government’s achievements, describing them as professionals promoting good governance out of passion. He highlighted key milestones in education, noting that 104 schools have been built in partnership with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, 65 secondary schools constructed, and over 2,300 classrooms renovated, with plans for an additional 55 secondary schools. The administration will also recruit 2,000 primary school teachers starting next month, an exercise set to continue annually. Kaduna’s out-of-school population has reportedly dropped from 580,000 in 2023 to about 182,000 under his tenure. In vocational training, Uba Sani said institutions in Soba, Rigachikun, and Zangon Kataf will graduate 32,000 certified artisans annually, accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). In higher education, tuition fees in Kaduna State-owned tertiary institutions were reduced shortly after his assumption of office, increasing enrolment by over 200 percent. On healthcare, all 255 primary healthcare centres in the state have been upgraded from Level 1 to Level 2, while 16 secondary healthcare facilities have been rebuilt, renovated, and equipped. The state will recruit 1,800 medical personnel annually for the next five years. In agriculture, Kaduna performed the groundbreaking for a Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone and partnered with Afreximbank to establish the Africa Quality Assurance Centre for global export certification. The state’s agriculture budget has increased from 0.5 percent in 2023 to over 11 percent, surpassing the Malabo Declaration, and 900 trucks of fertiliser have been distributed free to smallholder farmers. Governor Uba Sani concluded that the administration’s achievements would not have been possible without President Tinubu’s support, emphasizing that the state continues to prioritize development, job creation, and inclusive growth.
