By Jeff Agbodo ABAKALIKI — Residents of Nwezenyi, Igbeagu in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State were thrown into shock over the weekend following the kidnapping of three children from the same family by a suspected child trafficker. According to reports, an unidentified young woman rented an apartment in the area and, after just two days, disappeared with the three children while their parents were away. A local resident, Chidi, said the children—identified as Favour, Obinna, and Kamso Okeoha—were taken on Saturday. He explained that the suspect moved in on Thursday, settled in on Friday, and carried out the abduction the following day. “We are still in shock over what happened. She stayed for only one day before kidnapping the children, and we don’t even know her identity,” he said. Another resident added that the woman tried to appear friendly, painting and writing messages like “one love” around the compound to create a deceptive impression. When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, said he was not aware of the incident but promised to liaise with the divisional police officer in charge to ascertain ongoing efforts to rescue the children and apprehend the suspect. The community remains on edge as investigations continue.
