By Ayo Onikoyi Nollywood actress Folorunsho Adeola, popularly known as Arike Gold, has emphasized the importance of self-drive and hard work as key ingredients for success, cautioning against overreliance on others. Speaking during a recent appearance on the Talk to B show, the actress reflected on her personal journey, noting that financial independence and determination have shaped her outlook on life and career. “I love money too much,” she confessed. “It took me some time to realize that sometimes it’s not a man that will make you; you have to push yourself. If you push yourself to a certain level, a man can then say, ‘I like this girl, she is very hardworking,’ and they might come in to support you. But first, you have to believe in pushing yourself.” According to her, while support may come from a man, it often follows visible hard work and consistency. Adeola noted that individuals who push themselves to a certain level of achievement are more likely to attract opportunities and support. She added that self-belief and persistence remain critical, especially in an environment where not everyone has equal access to opportunities. The actress also addressed the perception of unequal luck, acknowledging that while some individuals appear to succeed with ease or assistance, others must work significantly harder to reach similar goals. She stressed that financial stability can open doors, but for many, it requires deliberate effort and resilience. Beyond acting, Adeola disclosed that her passion for financial security has led her to diversify into business ventures, underscoring her commitment to building multiple income streams. Her comments add to ongoing conversations about self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and the realities of success in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
