By Chimaobi Nwaiwu NNEWI — In a bid to support students and parents facing financial constraints, the South East Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA) has commenced the distribution of funds from President Bola Tinubu to enable students in Anambra State to procure Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms. The kick-off ceremony took place at Saint Marys Catholic Church, Onitsha, where the National Coordinator of SERHA, Hon. Belusochukwu Enwere, explained that the initiative targets all students wishing to register for JAMB, irrespective of their parents’ political affiliations. Hon. Enwere said even students who have already purchased their JAMB forms can access the funds to reimburse themselves or their sponsors. The gesture, he said, aims to ease the financial burden on families struggling to fund educational activities. “Today we are kicking off the distribution of the JAMB form funds to at least 10,000 students in Anambra State,” Enwere said. “The exercise will continue as state and local government coordinators of SERHA ensure that every student in the South East has the opportunity to benefit.” He noted that a total of 50,000 students across the South East are expected to receive the funds, with 10,000 targeted per state. Enwere described the initiative as a demonstration of President Tinubu’s care for Nigerian students, adding that it provides hope to both students and parents. “Many parents face difficulties in financing their children’s education. With this fund, the President has shown that he cares about easing these burdens,” he said. “This support encourages students to procure their forms, write their exams, pass, and secure further educational opportunities.” Anambra State Coordinator of SERHA, Mr. Alphonsus Muonagolu, also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, promising that the initiative would reach all students in the state preparing for JAMB. The programme underscores SERHA’s commitment to youth empowerment and education in the region, while highlighting the federal government’s effort to alleviate financial barriers to higher education.
