Former Senator of Anambra North District, Chief Emmanuel Obiajulu Anosike, was on Tuesday elected Chairman of the Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Anosike emerged through consensus, with Chief J.C. Okeke as Vice Chairman and Chief Obi Okpala as Secretary. Declaring the outcome, the Chairman of the Anambra Congress Committee and Returning Officer, Rear Admiral William Kayode (rtd), stated that the election was conducted in line with Articles 14 and 20 of the APC Constitution, which provide for the use of consensus in electing party officers. “I hereby affirm that the Congress was free, fair, and credible. Sen. Emmanuel Anosike and other members of his Executive Committee are duly elected,” Kayode said. Senator Uche Ekwunife, Chairman of the Congress Harmonization Committee and Director-General of the South East Governors Forum, explained that the goal of the exercise was to elect competent party executives capable of driving the APC to victory. She noted that stakeholders at ward and local government levels were involved in the selection process. Earlier, the previous executive, led by Chief Basil Ejidike, was dissolved through a motion moved by Chief Olisa Metuh and seconded by Dr. Onuora Okonkwo, paving the way for the new leadership. In his acceptance speech, Anosike described his election as a call to serve and promised inclusivity for all party members. “We shall ensure all members are carried along. This is a new dawn for the party in the state. We also pledge to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections,” he said, acknowledging the support of Governor Hope Uzodimma in managing the party in the South East. Former Chairman Ejidike urged party members to support the new executive, emphasizing that the party would continue to grow from strength to strength.
