Ribadu, Reno Omokri mourn death of El-Rufai’s mother

Nigerian public figures, including former EFCC Chairman Nuhu Ribadu and Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Mr Reno Omokri, have expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. Nuhu Ribadu disclosed the news on his X platform on Friday, saying: “Inna lillahi wa inna illahir raji’un. I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, the matriarch of the El-Rufai family. I have fond memories of shared moments with her and her motherly care. At a time like this, words can offer little comfort for such a profound loss. My heartfelt condolences to Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and the entire family. May Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings, grant her eternal rest in Aljannah Firdaus, and give the family the strength to bear this loss.” Similarly, Reno Omokri took to his X platform to convey his condolences, stating: “My sincerest condolences to the family of Mallam Nasir El-Rufa’i on the passing of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufa’i, who transitioned today. Death is a debt all of humanity owes, and in mourning, we must drop every other thing and sympathise and empathise with those who mourn in the spirit of the common humanity of humankind. May Allah, Subḥānahu wa taʿālā, forgive her sins and grant her al-Jannah Firdaus. May God grant the larger El-Rufa’i family the fortitude to bear this huge loss. As Quran 2:156 says, ‘Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un’. May God have mercy on the living who grieve at this time.” The loss has been widely mourned across the nation, reflecting the respect and admiration held for Hajiya Umma El-Rufai and her contributions to her family and community.
