By Juliet Ebirim Amid growing demand for reliable fueling infrastructure as economic activity continues to expand across Akwa Ibom State, Pivot Energy has debuted a new petrol station in Eket, giving motorists and residents improved access and easing distribution challenges in the area. The facility began operations following its official inauguration on March 14, 2026. The commissioning event was attended by key stakeholders and community leaders including the Director of Sales, Mr. Gabriel Igbokwe; Group Head of Retail, Mr. Aje Omagbemi; and HR Manager, Miss Jacinta Aziekwu. Dignitaries present include Captain Shehu Chindo Habila, representative of COL JK Adisa, Chief of Staff of the Nigerian Brigade Army; the Vice Chairman of Eket Local Government, Rt. Hon. Inyang Akpawan; the Youth Leader of Eket, Esuene Udoagaha; and the Resident Pastor of Winners Chapel Eket, Pastor Kelechi. Representatives from key unions were also in attendance, including the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Cyclists Union. Residents say the addition could help reduce long queues and improve daily commuting within the city, noting that increased participation by private operators remains important in strengthening Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector and improving access to energy. Beyond its immediate function, the station is also expected to support local economic activity through job creation and increased demand for nearby services. The development adds to ongoing efforts to expand fuel distribution networks across the country, as stakeholders continue to emphasise the role of infrastructure in supporting mobility and economic stability.
