By Olayinka Latona The wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Foluke Adeboye, has prayed for a divine transformation of leadership in Nigeria and across the world, urging that those in authority be endowed with the “Spirit of Excellence.” She made the call during a special Holy Ghost Service held at the Redemption City to mark the 40th anniversary of the church’s Holy Ghost Service. Leading the congregation in intercessory prayers for nations of the world, with particular focus on Nigeria, Pastor Mrs. Adeboye highlighted concerns about living conditions, insecurity, and governance in the country. Praying for improved national development, she asked God to grant leaders the wisdom and excellence required to enhance the quality of life of citizens. “Lord, we pray for robust economic development that will enhance the quality of life of the masses,” she said, while contrasting Nigeria’s situation with countries where electricity supply and transportation systems function effectively without fear of insecurity. She also prayed for divine intervention in governance, noting that leadership guided by excellence would bring improvement to the nation’s social and economic conditions. “When our leaders are filled with the Spirit of Excellence, there will be quality of human life and access to quality education,” she said, adding that God’s mercy was needed to transform the current situation. Pastor Mrs. Adeboye also prayed for improvements in the justice and healthcare systems, as well as protection from disease outbreaks and other challenges affecting the country. On security and governance, she prayed that leaders would rule with integrity and according to God’s will, expressing hope that such leadership would lead to improved stability and reduced insecurity. Her prayers extended to all levels of leadership in society—from national leaders to heads of families, schools and organisations—asking that the Spirit of God guide them in their responsibilities. Beyond Nigeria, she also prayed for global peace, calling for an end to conflicts in Israel, Iran, Iraq and other parts of the world. The anniversary service, themed “Excellence,” featured extensive praise and worship led by the church’s mass choir, as worshippers gathered in large numbers to celebrate the milestone. Ministering on the theme of the event, the General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, spoke on the excellent nature of God and encouraged believers to reflect that excellence in their daily lives.
