By Ayo Onikoyi Nollywood actor Uche Montana opened up about her journey in the Nigerian film industry and the challenges she faced in an interview with Uncut Xtra Magazine. Reflecting on her early career, Montana revealed the dark side of auditions: “At the time, it wasn’t exactly like it is now because I went for a lot of auditions. I went for auditions where they would try to sexually assault you. From the kind of home I come from, I could not understand, so those kinds of things would make me cry. It would make me ask, ‘Am I supposed to be here?’” She contrasted those experiences with the opportunities available today: “I thank God for the growth of the industry, and I thank God that young actors coming into the industry now are coming into opportunities that are large. You don’t necessarily have to depend on anyone to succeed. You can be on your Instagram and become something.” On a personal note, Montana shared the qualities she values in a partner: “It’s going to take you being kind, it’s going to take you being very mature, it’s going to take you being understanding, it’s going to take you being successful because I work hard, so you have to match the energy.”
