President Tinubu congratulates Agriculture Minister Kyari on election as IFAD chair

Abuja – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, on his election as the new Chairperson of the Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Senator Kyari was unanimously elected on Tuesday to lead the 49th Governing Council of IFAD, the international organisation’s highest decision-making body. President Tinubu described the election as a “confidence vote in his capacity and the reforms he spearheads in Nigeria’s agriculture and food security value chain.” He expressed assurance that Senator Kyari would provide effective leadership and enhance IFAD’s relevance and impact, particularly amid global food security challenges. The President extended his best wishes for a successful and impactful tenure as Senator Kyari takes up the role.
