Police arrest suspected cable vandals, recover tools in Nasarawa

By Edwin Philip, Lafia The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected electric cable vandals during a routine patrol along the Gitata–Gunduma Road in Karu Local Government Area of the state. The suspects were apprehended by a patrol team attached to the Gitata Division in the early hours of Friday. In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Superintendent of Police Ramhan Nansel, the suspects were identified as Chigozie Igbokwe, 41, and Emmanuel John, also 41, both residents of Jikwoyi in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. According to the statement, the suspects were intercepted at about 5:54 a.m. while allegedly transporting vandalised electric cables. Items recovered from them include iron cutters, pliers, spanners, and electric cables. The police also recovered a grey Hyundai Sonata with registration number GWA 44 PM, which was allegedly used to convey the vandalised items. The statement added that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Shetima Mohammed, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for further investigation and possible prosecution.
