A high-level delegation of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday arrived in Kano State ahead of the anticipated defection of former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso. The delegation is led by the ADC National Chairman and former Senate President, David Mark, and includes prominent political figures such as former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Senator Dino Melaye; and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun, among others. On arrival at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, the delegation was received by the immediate past Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Gwarzo. Kwankwaso is expected to formally join the ADC in the coming days, alongside key political associates, including Gwarzo; the Senator representing Kano Central, Rufa’i Hanga; and the Kano State Chairman of the NNPP, Hashim Dungurawa. The planned defection is widely seen as a significant political development that could reshape alignments in Kano State ahead of future elections.
