Peter Obi, Senator Umeh officially register with ADC in Anambra

By Vincent Ujumadu Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State, completing his registration in his hometown of Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area. Also formalizing his membership is Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, who received his membership card in his hometown of Aguluzigbo, also in Anaocha LGA. Their registration was witnessed by key party stakeholders, including Senator Ben Obi, ADC National Organizing Secretary Chinedu Idigo, Hon. Afam Ogene (Ogbaru Federal Constituency), Peter Anekwe (Anambra East/West Federal Constituency), and Professor Lilian Orogbu (Awka South/North Federal Constituency). Other attendees included the party’s candidate in the November 2025 Anambra governorship election, John Nwosu, his running mate Dr. Ndubuisi Nwobu, as well as hundreds of party members and supporters. Ahead of the registration exercise, 48,900 membership cards were distributed to party leaders across the state’s 21 local government areas for onward distribution to the 326 wards to support grassroots mobilisation. Speaking at the event, party leaders called for an aggressive membership drive to strengthen the ADC’s structure and pledged support for Obi’s 2027 presidential ambition. Senator Umeh highlighted that Anambra has approximately 2.8 million registered voters and urged them to back Obi in the upcoming election. The party’s National Organizing Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, assured members that additional membership cards would be provided by the national headquarters to accommodate the growing number of prospective members.
