By Dennis Agbo, Enugu The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday commenced electronic registration of its members across Enugu State. Speaking during the training of registrars from the 260 wards, Enugu PDP Chairman, Hon. Steve Oruruo, said the e-registration exercise is in line with the new electoral guidelines and will capture the party’s membership accurately. “Talk is cheap, but the reality check is that our people will be captured in their numbers,” Oruruo said, dismissing claims of internal opposition. He emphasized that the Court of Appeal judgment resolving the party crisis validates the state leadership, rendering factional claims null and void. Oruruo also rejected fears that the PDP could be deregistered, noting that the online registration ensures compliance with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) requirements for political parties. Describing party agitators as “hirelings trying to hijack powers for the APC,” he added, “PDP wants peace, dialogue, and compromise, and negotiations are ongoing. But whether we reach a settlement or not, we will continue in the Supreme Court to protect our party.” He stressed that the PDP is moving swiftly to ensure it fields candidates in the upcoming elections, despite attempts by opponents to undermine the party nationwide.
