PDP faults Lagos governance, vows people-driven alternative

By Henry Obetta The Executive Committee-elect of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos State, has criticised the current state of governance in Lagos, citing worsening hardship, unemployment and infrastructural gaps, while pledging to reposition the party as a credible alternative ahead of future elections. At a strategic meeting with the 20 Local Government Area chairmen in the state, the Exco-elect led by Mr. Amos Fawole, said Lagos residents deserve policies anchored on transparency, social welfare and inclusive economic growth. The party said the session reviewed both its internal structure and existing socio-economic situations in the state, stressing that strengthening grassroots engagement and internal cohesion had become imperative. According to the PDP leadership, the widening gap between government promises and visible development outcomes had continued to overwhelm residents, particularly youths and small businesses. It therefore urged the APC-led administration to make governance people-centred and development-focused, noting that Lagos, as Nigeria’s commercial hub, requires policies capable of improving living standards and guaranteeing security. They said”governance must be people driven, transparent, and development focused. Lagos, as Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre, deserves policies that prioritize social welfare, economic inclusion, security, and genuine infrastructural advancement.” The party added that it would not only play the role of opposition through criticism but would also present practical policy options aimed at restoring hope and achieving equitable growth. The PDP assured residents that a united and re-energised structure would champion accountable leadership and offer a new developmental direction for the state.
