By Henry Umoru Abuja – Exactly one year after the death of former Federal Commissioner for Information and Elder Statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has paid tribute to his enduring legacy, describing him as a man whose presence remains “mighty” despite his absence. In a statement on Monday, PANDEF’s National Chairman, Ambassador Godknows Igali, hailed Clark’s 98 years of service to Nigeria, emphasizing his life of courage, integrity, and sacrifice. Igali noted that though Clark is no longer physically present, his spirit continues to inspire generations. A special memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Edwin Clark University Auditorium. The event, organized by PANDEF in collaboration with the Edwin Kiagbodo Clark Foundation, Edwin Clark University, and the Clark, Bekederemo, and Fuludu families, will feature prayers, tributes, and cultural performances. “One year gone, and your presence is still mighty,” Igali said, recalling Clark’s final words: “I am a Nigerian, I love Nigeria.” He added that Clark’s vision for national unity, the Niger Delta, and the entire South-South geopolitical zone remains alive and continues to guide leaders and citizens alike. The statement described Clark as a “game changer” whose courage, leadership, and dedication to truth, justice, and national development will be celebrated for generations. “Your memory and voice remain firm, astute, and unfailing, like a lion,” PANDEF said. The memorial service is expected to draw dignitaries, students, and community members to honor the late “Gogorogo” of the South-South, reaffirming the lasting impact of his contributions to Nigeria and the Niger Delta region.
