...rally support for Gov. Adeleke By Shina Abubakar, Osogbo The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National and State Lawmakers forum in Osun State has threw its weight behind the Sunday Bisi-led State Executive Committee of the party, saying it is the only recognized party leadership. Speaking after the forum’s meeting held at LAIM Hotel in Osogbo on Sunday, the group spokesperson, Senator Lere Oyewumi said the party remained an single entity under the leadership of Sunday Bisi, adding that any other group or faction is unknown to the party’s constitution. He berated Oyinlola for playing a double face, having being one of the stakeholders that prevailed on Governor Ademola Adeleke to pick ticket from Accord party owing to the crisis bedeviling the party at the national level. “We that are seated here are elected members of the National and State Assembly from the state and we speak for the people and our numerous members. As far as PDP is concerned in Osun State, it is indivisible under the leadership of our Chairman, Mr Sunday Bisi. “As to the support for Governor Ademola Adeleke, we, collectively, including the Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola faction to encourage the Governor to pick ticket from Accord due to the crisis within the party national leadership. We stick to that agreement and reaffirm our support for the Governor ahead of the August 8 governorship poll in the State. Whatever Oyinlola and his group believed in now is not our problem”, he said. Reading the communique after the meeting the forum frowned at the continuous occupation of the council secretariats by APC elected officials, saying their tenure has expired and also tasked Federal Government to release council fund to the State Government. He adds, “The continued unlawful occupation of Local Government secretariats by APC members whose elections were nullified by courts of competent jurisdiction is condemned in its entirety. “The continued withholding of Local Government allocations due to Osun State is causing avoidable hardship for teachers, nurses, healthcare workers, Local Government civil servants, retirees, and traditional institutions at the grassroots. Funds meant for the people must not be politicised or subjected to extraneous interference. “We call on His Excellency, The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to give a directive to the illegal occupants to vacate immediately to avert crises. PDP as a party and the government in the state are law abiding and that is why we have chosen the path of peace and path of law not to throw the state into crises”.
