By Nwabueze Okonkwo ONITSHA—Newly promoted Area Commander of Police Area Command, Onitsha, Anambra State, Chidiebere Nzotta, has pledged to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, maintain integrity and build public trust in the discharge of his duties. Nzotta made the pledge in his vote of thanks shortly after his decoration as a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), following his promotion from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). He said: “I will continue to uphold the core values of the Force, maintain integrity and build public trust throughout my remaining years in service.” Nzotta, who spoke on behalf of himself and Blessing Akuchi, also promoted to DCP, noted that he would be guided by the principle that hard work attracts greater responsibility. According to him: “We accept this promotion with gratitude. As the IGP has said, the reward for hard work is more work. Today is one of the happiest days of our lives, and we thank God for making it possible.” The decoration ceremony, held at the Zone 13 Command Headquarters, Ukpo, was attended by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 13, Abayomi Oladipo; the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu; and other senior officers. Nzotta expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Service Commission for finding him and his colleague worthy of the promotion. Earlier, AIG Oladipo charged the newly promoted officers to uphold professionalism, integrity and discipline in their new ranks, describing their elevation as a call to greater service. He said: “Promotion comes with greater responsibility. We urge you to uphold the core values of the Force, maintain integrity and sustain public trust in the discharge of your duties.” Oladipo added that the promotion was merit-based and reflected the Command’s commitment to boosting morale and enhancing operational efficiency through recognition of hard work and excellence. “The promotion is well-deserved. It underscores our commitment to rewarding dedication and strengthening service delivery,” he said. The event was attended by Commissioners of Police from Anambra and Enugu states, senior officers, family members and well-wishers. In goodwill messages, the commissioners noted that ongoing promotions within the Force reflect reforms and career development initiatives aimed at strengthening capacity, improving motivation and enhancing service delivery nationwide.
