Ondo landlady arrested for allegedly poisoning tenants 3 year old son

By Dayo Johnson Akure A 40-year-old , landlady Nafisat Lateef, has been arrested for allegedly poisoning a three year old son of her tenant over minor disagreement, in Odigbo council area of Ondo state. Vanguard gathered that the incident was reported at the Odigbo Police Division by the victim’s mother, Rofiyat, aged 32, both residents of Omifon, Odigbo. Police source said that the incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m., when the suspect allegedly gave the victim identified as Abdulrasheed, a liquid substance suspected to be poisonous. ” The act was reportedly carried out following a misunderstanding between the complainant and the suspect, who is the complainant’s landlady. ” Shortly after consuming the substance, the child began vomiting and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received medical attention. Police detectives, it was learnt during a swift and intelligence-led operation, arrested the suspect and recovered the liquid substance. Contacted, the state police command spokesperson, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, said that the suspect is currently in police custody and has made useful statements. Abayomi added that “investigation is ongoing and the case will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation. He advised residents of the State to avoid landlord–tenant disputes, warning that such disagreements often lead to poor coexistence and could escalate into criminal acts.
