By Edwin Philip, Lafia The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a suspected serial rapist, Hussaini Shuaibu, also known as “Abati,” for allegedly defiling five minors across different parts of the state. According to a press statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Jerry Victor, the arrest followed credible intelligence reports and complaints from concerned residents, prompting NSCDC operatives to track and apprehend the suspect. Preliminary investigations revealed that the alleged offences were committed at different times and locations, targeting vulnerable children, Victor said. Confirming the arrest, the State Commandant, Brah Samson Umoru, condemned the acts as “inhumane, criminal, and a grave violation of the rights of children.” He reiterated NSCDC’s commitment to protecting minors and other vulnerable persons, emphasizing that sexual violence will not be tolerated in Nasarawa State. “The suspect is currently in NSCDC custody and will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” Umoru said, adding that justice will be pursued to serve as a deterrent to others with similar criminal intentions. The Commandant also called on parents, guardians, and community leaders to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies. He encouraged victims of sexual abuse to come forward, assuring them of confidentiality and necessary support. The NSCDC Nasarawa Command urged members of the public to continue cooperating with security agencies, stressing its commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and public safety across the state.
