The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed claims that two police officers, including the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ilemba-Hausa Division, were killed in a clash at Iyana Ojo. The clarification followed videos circulating on social media suggesting the officers were killed while attending peace talks that escalated. The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, described the reports as false and misleading in a post on her X handle @AbimbolaShotayo on Tuesday. Adebisi stated that no police officers were harmed and no civilian casualties were recorded. “Police operatives responded promptly to the situation, and normalcy has since been restored. “Officers continue to maintain a visible presence in the area to ensure sustained peace,” she said. She clarified that the videos circulating online were unrelated to the incident and should not be regarded as accurate evidence. Adebisi urged members of the public to verify information from official, credible sources before sharing, and to rely on the command’s established communication channels for updates. The spokesperson reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order while cautioning against the spread of false information that could create unnecessary panic. Vanguard News
