By Rotimi Ojomoyela ADO-EKITI — The newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Micheal Falade, has vowed to crack down on criminal elements, declaring that offenders will face the full weight of the law. Speaking to journalists during his official resumption at the command headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, Falade described his appointment as a major milestone in his career and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve. He assured residents of a people-friendly policing approach anchored on professionalism, integrity, and respect for human rights, while prioritising the protection of lives and property. The police boss paid tribute to his predecessor, Joseph Eribo, commending his contributions and pledging to build on the foundation he laid. Falade emphasised the importance of intelligence gathering in crime prevention, urging residents to support security agencies with timely and credible information. He noted that criminal elements constitute only a small fraction of the population and can be effectively tackled through collective effort. He said his administration would adopt intelligence-led and visibility policing, including raids on criminal hideouts and coordinated operations, to ensure residents can go about their lawful activities without fear. The commissioner also assured that Ekiti’s borders would be strengthened against criminal infiltration in collaboration with other security agencies and local outfits. Reaffirming his commitment to the rule of law, Falade warned that violations of human rights by officers would not be tolerated, while also pledging to prioritise the welfare and professionalism of police personnel. He called on stakeholders, including community leaders, organisations, and the media, to partner with the police in the fight against crime, stressing that collective action is key to achieving a safer society.
