By Johnbosco Agbakwuru, Abuja The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Kingsley Udeh, SAN, has assured that Nigeria will not be left behind in the global technology revolution. Udeh disclosed that his ministry will soon launch a programme titled “Energise Commercialisation”, aimed at transforming Nigeria from a technology-importing nation to a technology-innovating nation. The announcement was made during a visit to Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, at the State House, Abuja. The Minister said the visit was to enlist the First Lady as the Champion of the initiative, which is designed to strengthen the capacities of youths with commercially viable inventions and innovations. The programme, which has already begun sensitisation efforts, will be rolled out across all states of the federation under the First Lady’s leadership. Udeh explained that the initiative aims to reach innovators at all levels, including those in schools and even individuals in remote communities. “We will be going to schools, at all levels, and the nooks and crannies of the states, to reach even the unlettered who have such inventions and innovations. We have the brains, and we will be helping them achieve their goals,” Udeh said. He added, “Nigeria cannot be left out of the world technology revolution.” The closed-door meeting signals the imminent launch of the Energise Commercialisation programme, which will primarily target youths and women, aiming to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and technological advancement nationwide.
