NIGCOMSAT adopts federal government PMS to strengthen public service delivery

By Emmanuel Elebeke In a bid to enhance efficiency and drive institutional culture change, the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Ltd has adopted the Federal Government’s Performance Management System (PMS). The initiative is aimed at strengthening accountability and improving public service delivery through intensive staff training. The programme aligns with the vision of the Presidency and the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation, and is designed to instil a strong work ethic and service-oriented culture within the Nigerian public sector. Welcoming participants, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NIGCOMSAT, Mrs. Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, represented by the Executive Director, Technical Services, Engr. Abiodun Attah, described the adoption of the PMS as long overdue and critical to aligning the organisation with national performance goals. In her opening remarks, the General Manager, Human Resources Management, Mrs. Chinwe Udogu, expressed the organisation’s enthusiasm for the programme and urged staff to commit fully to the three-day training. She noted that the exercise is pivotal to repositioning NIGCOMSAT to achieve its strategic objectives. The training consultant, Mrs. Njoku Chioma, said the programme is expected to drive culture change, automate work processes, and strengthen institutional performance across the organisation. The three-day training, jointly organised by the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation and NIGCOMSAT Management, covers key themes including an overview of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2025 (FCSSI25) as a performance-driven framework; service culture and workplace attitude in the Nigerian public sector; implementation of the Performance Management System in NIGCOMSAT; and the application of Artificial Intelligence tools to enhance performance in the public sector. The training cuts across all directorates and staff cadres, reinforcing the overarching goal of aligning NIGCOMSAT’s operations with the vision of the Presidency and the directives of the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation.
