Nasarawa Police recover stolen DAF truck cabin, arrest two suspects

By Edwin Philip, Lafia LAFIA — Police in Nasarawa State have recovered a stolen DAF truck cabin and arrested two suspects following an intelligence-led operation in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area. The suspects, Abdulrahaman Danjuma, 31, of Mararaba, and Saadu Umar, 34, of Zone Four, FCT Abuja, were apprehended at Tudun Wada area of Mararaba. During the operation, officers also recovered an unregistered white DAF truck cabin suspected to have been stolen. According to a statement by the state police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Ramhan Nansel, the operation was conducted in line with directives from Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed to strengthen community-based policing and combat crime in the state. The search of the vehicle on February 28, 2026, at about 10:30 a.m., also yielded two number plates: DGA 118 XA and USS 168 XA. “Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to stealing the trailer from Kogi State and transporting it to Mararaba,” the statement read. “They further disclosed that the trailer body had been sold to an unidentified person through a proxy at the cost of four million naira (₦4,000,000).” The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives for their professionalism and directed that the suspects and the recovered exhibit be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for further investigation. Police have pledged to intensify efforts to apprehend other individuals involved in the crime.
