By Edwin Philip, Lafia The Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Muhammad Adamu Oyanki, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Oyanki, who represents Doma North Constituency in the state legislature, announced his defection on Wednesday during a courtesy and thank-you visit to Governor Abdullahi Sule in Lafia. Although he has made his decision public, it was gathered that the Deputy Speaker is expected to formally notify the Speaker of the House of Assembly through a letter when lawmakers resume from recess next week. Sources also indicated that Oyanki may outline the reasons for his defection when his letter is read on the floor of the House. The defection is seen as a boost for the APC in Nasarawa State and comes amid ongoing political realignments ahead of future electoral contests.
