NABTEB releases 2025 results, 34,060 candidates score credits in Maths and English

By Ozioruva Aliu BENIN CITY – The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) on Monday announced the results of the November/December 2025 NBC/NTC and ANBC/NANTC examinations, reporting that 60 percent of candidates obtained five credits or more, including Mathematics and English Language. Addressing journalists at the Board’s secretariat in Benin City, NABTEB Registrar/CEO, Dr. Muhammed Aminu Muhammed, said 61,591 candidates—34,185 males and 27,406 females—registered for the examinations across 2,079 centres. Of these, 54,009 candidates, representing 94.74 percent, obtained five credits or more with or without English Language and Mathematics. He described the results as an improvement over the 2024 examinations, even as he noted that 259 candidates (0.42 percent) were involved in examination malpractice. Dr. Muhammed highlighted that the 2025 enrolment represents a 28.42 percent increase in candidate numbers and a 13.92 percent rise in examination centres, reflecting growing confidence in NABTEB exams. He further explained that the 61,591 candidates comprised 57,444 O-Level and 4,147 A-Level candidates. “This performance shows a slight improvement compared to the 2024 November/December NBC/NTC and ANBC/NANTC results, where 29,880 candidates (67.56%) obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics, and 42,431 candidates (95.94%) obtained five credits and above with or without English Language and Mathematics,” Dr. Muhammed said. Among the trades, Engineering recorded a 76.84 percent pass rate, with Electrical Installation and Maintenance Works being the most popular. Construction Trades achieved 79.32 percent, led by Bricklaying and Blocklaying. Miscellaneous Trades attained 77 percent, with Catering Crafts Practice attracting the most candidates, while Business Trades recorded 52.07 percent, led by Bookkeeping.
