By James Ogunnaike, Abeokuta No fewer than 17 traffic offenders were on Wednesday convicted by a Mobile Court sitting in Ogere, Ogun State, as the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) intensified enforcement against traffic violations along major routes. The court, presided over by Magistrate O.S. Fadahunsi, tried and convicted all 17 offenders arraigned before it, with no acquittals recorded. According to the Ogun State FRSC Command, a total of 30 traffic offences were established during the session, with 28 attracting fines. “The Mobile Court session recorded 30 offences, with 17 convictions, while 28 offences were fined. There were no discharges,” the Command stated through its Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Route Commander Odunsi Afolabi. Reacting, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin, stressed the need for sustained enforcement to curb road accidents, particularly along the busy Ogere corridor. “Strict enforcement of traffic laws is essential to reducing road crashes and ensuring the free flow of traffic,” he said. Fasakin warned motorists against violating traffic regulations, noting that the Corps would continue to prosecute offenders. Similarly, the Unit Commander, Assistant Corps Commander Clement Akpenwuan, cautioned that traffic violations have far-reaching consequences. “The effects of disobedience to traffic laws extend beyond individuals to families and the government,” he said. The FRSC reaffirmed its commitment to sustained enforcement and public awareness campaigns to ensure safer roads across Ogun State.
