Mexico has sent 2,500 troops to boost security in the west of the country after the death of a top drug lord in a military operation, Defense Secretary Ricardo Trevilla said Monday. “Around 7,000 troops were stationed in Jalisco, so they are going to be reinforced” with more troops in the area of operation for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, which was led by Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera until he was killed Sunday, Trevilla told a press conference. Oseguera’s death prompted cartel members across the country to go on the rampage, torching vehicles and businesses and blocking roads.
