By Juliet Umeh Technology giant Meta has announced the rollout of new artificial intelligence, AI, tools designed to enhance support and safety across its platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. The update introduces the Meta AI support assistant, now available globally, to provide users with reliable, 24/7 help for account issues such as password resets, privacy settings, and profile updates. According to Meta, the AI support assistant is designed to resolve account problems from start to finish. “When you have an account issue, you need a solution, not just a suggestion,” the company said. The assistant can report scams, impersonation accounts, and problematic content, explain why content was removed, provide clear appeal options, manage privacy settings, and help with password resets and profile updates. It responds in under five seconds, dramatically reducing wait times compared to traditional help channels. Meta said early feedback from users has been largely positive. The company added that the assistant will continue expanding to support additional account access situations and languages, ensuring help is always just a tap away. In addition to support, Meta is deploying advanced AI systems to improve content enforcement. According to the statement by Meta, these systems can intercept thousands of scam attempts per day, reduce impersonation of high-profile accounts by over 80 percent, detect twice as much adult sexual solicitation content while reducing errors by 60 percent, and identify fake websites and subtle account takeovers. The AI supports 98 percent of languages spoken online and adapts to cultural nuances, slang, emojis, and niche subcultures. Meta emphasized that AI complements human judgment rather than replacing it. “People will continue to play a key role in high-risk decisions, while AI handles repetitive or rapidly evolving threats,” the company said. By combining AI’s speed and scale with human expertise, Meta aims to make online support more reliable, reduce harmful content, and provide users with greater confidence and safety across its apps.
