Maiduguri Killings: Shettima meets Tinubu in Lagos, to brief APC governors

By Olasunkanmi Akoni Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Lagos to brief President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the security situation in Maiduguri, Borno State, following recent killings in the area. Shettima’s visit comes after a directive from the President for an on-the-spot assessment and condolence visit to affected families and communities in the state. According to a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President will present details of his findings, including the outcome of his engagements with victims and stakeholders during the visit. The briefing is expected to provide the President with firsthand information on the situation on ground and guide further government response to the crisis. After meeting with the President, Shettima is also scheduled to lead 31 serving governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the Progressives Governors Forum, on a visit to Tinubu. The Vice President and the governors are expected to proceed to a crucial meeting later in the day at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, where key national and party issues will be discussed. A communiqué is expected to be issued at the end of the meeting.
