Kebbi Govt gears up for Tinubu’s visit, mega projects unveiling, cultural fiesta

By Victor Ahiuma-Young The Kebbi State Government has called on residents to accord President Bola Tinubu a warm and rousing welcome as he arrives on a state visit on Saturday, February 14, 2026. President Tinubu is expected to commission several major, people-oriented projects executed by the administration of Governor Nasir Idris during the visit. The President will also attend the opening of the 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated cultural events, which kicks off today. In a statement the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed, through Special Adviser, SA, on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, said “President Bola Tinubu will be on a state visit to Kebbi State to commission several major, people-oriented projects executed by the administration of Governor Nasir Idris, and to attend the opening of the 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, which begins today. Ahmed appealed to residents for cooperation and understanding, urging them to showcase their renowned hospitality in hosting national and international dignitaries. According to the commissioner, projects to be commissioned by the President include the Bola Ahmed Tinubu State Secretariat Complex, the Birnin Kebbi Central Motor Park, newly constructed township road networks, and the Argungu dual carriageway, among others. The commissioner then proceeded to the cultural festival activities. Ahmed cautioned that some roads within the Birnin Kebbi metropolis and parts of Argungu would be temporarily closed to facilitate the movement of the president, in line with security protocols. The commissioner appealed to motorists and commuters to bear with the brief inconvenience. With international visitors already arriving for the festival, the commissioner stressed that residents’ conduct would shape global perceptions of Kebbi State. He urged citizens to remain law-abiding, peaceful, welcoming, and courteous to project a positive image of the state.
