LAGOS — Workers of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo) on Tuesday morning staged a protest along Broad Street in Lagos over issues relating to a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The early-hour demonstration was coordinated by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), the union representing senior staff in the oil and gas sector. According to a source within PENGASSAN, the protest was triggered by unresolved matters concerning the implementation of the collective bargaining agreement between the workers and the company. The action caused traffic congestion in the busy Broad Street axis, as commuters and passersby slowed down to observe the demonstration. Protesters were seen gathered around the Shell premises, restricting full access to the building.
