No fewer than 15 players have arrived in Antalya as the Super Eagles opened camp ahead of upcoming international friendlies in Turkey. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the early arrivals include Fisayo Bashiru, Alex Iwobi, Emmanuel Oluwasegun, Yira Sor, Paul Onuachu and Philip Otele. Others are Semi Ajayi, Moses Simon, Francis Uzoho, Bruno Onyemaechi and Bright Osayi-Samuel. Also in camp are Frank Onyeka, Adebayo Adeleye, Samuel Chukwueze and Maduka Okoye. More arrivals are expected late Tuesday and early Wednesday. The team is camped at the Bellis Deluxe Hotel in Antalya, with the first training session scheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m. local time (2 p.m. in Nigeria). NAN also reports that the camp opened at noon on Tuesday with the arrival of coaches and team officials. Super Eagles Media Officer, Promise Efoghe, told NAN that the atmosphere in camp was positive, expressing satisfaction with the early turnout of players. “We are encouraged by the level of commitment shown by the players. Having 15 already in camp on the first day is a good sign,” Efoghe said. He added that the technical crew was focused on maximising the training sessions ahead of the matches against Iran and Jordan. “Our objective is to ensure proper preparation and team cohesion before the friendlies. The coaches are eager to get to work immediately,” he said. Efoghe assured that remaining invited players were expected to join the squad without delay. “We anticipate a full house very soon, which will give the coaching staff enough time to implement their plans,” he added. Head Coach Eric Chelle had earlier named captain Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi and Ademola Lookman in a 23-man squad for the matches. The fixtures were moved from Amman to Antalya due to the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East. The Super Eagles will face Iran on March 27 at 4 p.m., before taking on Jordan on March 31 at 8 p.m. in Antalya. (NAN)
