...says Nigeria’s progress angers the Western world By Shina Abubakar Osogbo The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has warned President Bola Tinubu not to ‘romance’ President Donald Trump of the United States of America, saying the former’s interest may be to divide Nigeria along religious lines. The monarch, in a statement commiserating with the Kwara State Government over the Woro massacre, said Nigeria must be careful about allowing foreign military access into its territory at a time the country is growing economically. According to Oluwo, “The success recorded by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is a threat to the western countries. The current rampancy of banditry is suspicious and must be handled with caution. “Tinubu’s romance with Donald Trump’s administration should be properly reviewed in the interest of Nigeria. The interaction might be a ploy to disorganise and disunite the nation. African countries should not trust the intentions and interests of Trump’s Intervention in any African nation.” “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has to exercise caution regarding foreign intervention on Nigeria’s security architecture. The current administration is restoring and placing Nigeria back to the path of greatness. Sometimes, a great nation doesn’t wish others should rise. Nigeria romance with Western States should be studied and reviewed”. He also frown at the low level of empathy shown to the massacre in Woro community in Kwara State, where about 170 persons lost their lives overnight, tasking Nigerians to unite in its bid to tackle banditry. “The low reactions recorded after the Woro village attacks call for sober reflection of love lost, unity decimated and togetherness eroded. More than 170 Nigerians who are Muslims were killed overnight. Should we call this a Muslim genicide?. No nation in the world has successfully won banditry with religious sentiment. “I call on Nigerians to have utmost respect for human lives. The life of every Nigerian is priceless beyond both religious and political sentiment. It baffles me as a father to the nation when Nigerians harp on religious genocide. The bigots are creating a divide by sending signal to the world that Nigerians are not equal. “The fatal victims and casualties of Woro attack were all Muslims. Not many stakeholders are talking about the dastard wasting of precious lives. Were the victims less Nigeria than others?” “As a father to the nation, I have put up several challenges to cement the untiy of Nigerians. The killings ravaging our dear nation could be checkmated if we could all be one, jettision tribal and religious difference, and gather intelligence to assist the security operatives without fear or favour” “I equally call on the Nigeria security architecture to improve on intelligence gathering operations. Information is power. I hope intelligence gathering needs the cooperation of the local residents and such will assist to halt many bamditry attacks and repel destruction of lives and properties”, he added.
