By Johnbosco Agbakwuru ABUJA — “I love you and I am so proud of you,” First Lady Oluremi Tinubu declared in a heartfelt tribute to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he marked his 74th birthday on Sunday. The President, however, chose to observe the occasion quietly, citing the prevailing national mood and ongoing challenges facing the country. In a message to Nigerians, Tinubu reflected on the reforms introduced by his administration, acknowledging the difficulties citizens have endured while expressing optimism about the nation’s direction. He noted that despite setbacks, including the impact of the Middle East crisis, there are signs of progress. According to him, the sacrifices made by Nigerians are beginning to yield results, with “a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.” Tinubu also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing key national challenges, expressing confidence that with continued public support, the country would overcome its current difficulties. “As I mark this special day, I am reminded of the challenges we’ve faced since we initiated our reforms,” the President stated, while thanking Nigerians for their goodwill, prayers, and support. He also appreciated Vice President Kashim Shettima for his message and continued support. In his goodwill message, Shettima said the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is positioning Nigeria on the path of sustainable growth, highlighting developments in economic performance and infrastructure. He described the President’s leadership as focused and reform-driven, noting that efforts are being made to lay a strong foundation for long-term national prosperity. The President reiterated his call for unity and collective effort, urging Nigerians to continue working together toward building a stronger, more prosperous nation.
