I joined APC to ensure Tinubu’s victory in 2027 – Aduda

A former Senator, Philip Aduda, says he defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from his former party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to help in ensuring the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027. Aduda said this on Tuesday at the party’s national secretariat while speaking with newsmen after meeting with the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda. Aduda, who represented the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the Seventh, Eighth and Ninth Senate, had earlier in the day announced his resignation from PDP. In the letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Karu Ward in Abuja, Aduda said that his exit from the party was with immediate effect. “I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the PDP with immediate effect due to the crisis in the party,” he stated. The former senator expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunity given him to serve in various elective positions during his political career. Aduda, however, told newsmen at the APC national secretariat that he decided to align, realign and bring himself to work for Tinubu and ensure his victory in 2027. “I’m sure we’ll coast to victory by the special grace of God. It will not be anything difficult. “At the last FCT Area Council elections, we collaborated and won five out of the six area councils. I can assure you that it will be six over six by the grace of God at some point. “And by the special grace of God, we will deliver for the president in 2027,” he said. While welcoming Aduda to APC, Yilwatda said that all the progressives in Nigeria were aligning and identifying with the party which he described as the biggest forum of progressives in Nigeria. “Because of the progressive nature of APC and the programmes of Mr President through the Renew Hope agenda, every progressive in Nigeria is queuing behind us. “That is why thousands and millions of Nigerians wake up every day and they think of APC as the only alternative they have to deliver a progressive political structure in Nigeria,” he said. The APC national chairman said the programmes being implemented by the Tinubu-led administration were progressive, adding that most of the projects being embarked upon were never thought of. He said that APC was happy to have the former senator in its fold.(NAN)
