...Endorses Educators’ Conference By Nnamdi Ojiego The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has said the commission is deliberately investing in initiatives that will transform Nigeria’s education sector, stressing that teachers remain central to national development. Ogbuku spoke while announcing the commission’s endorsement and full support for the High Impact Conference for Educators (HICE) 2026, a flagship programme of the Explore Foundation scheduled to hold on April 11 in Asaba. The conference, themed “Empowering Educators: The Path to Transformation,” is designed to equip teachers with practical tools, fresh knowledge and renewed motivation to improve learning outcomes across the country. According to Ogbuku, education remains the bedrock of sustainable national growth, noting that the commission’s backing of the conference reflects its broader commitment to human capital development in the Niger Delta and beyond. “Education is the foundation upon which the future of any nation is built. At the NDDC, we recognize the critical role of educators in shaping the next generation,” he said. “By endorsing and supporting HICE 2026, we are contributing to the transformation of education in the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large.” He described the conference as a strategic platform that will empower teachers, strengthen classroom practice and stimulate long term reforms in the sector. Convener of HICE, Mrs. Uche Monu, said this year’s edition is expected to attract more than 500 educators, administrators, policymakers and thought leaders from across Nigeria. Monu explained that participants would be exposed to innovative teaching methods, practical strategies for improving classroom delivery and structured networking opportunities aimed at building a strong community of education reform advocates. She noted that the free conference would also promote inclusive learning environments, encourage teacher leadership and support collaboration among stakeholders working to improve public education. Meanwhile, Chairman of the NDDC, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, said the commission’s support for HICE 2026 underscores its resolve to strengthen the education ecosystem through strategic partnerships. “The NDDC’s support for HICE 2026 is a testament to our commitment to shaping the future of education in the Niger Delta and beyond,” Ebie said. “By partnering with the Explore Foundation, we are ensuring that the educators of tomorrow have the resources, training and inspiration they need to drive sustainable development in the region.” The commission called on corporate organisations, development partners and well meaning individuals to support the initiative, describing quality education as essential to building an empowered workforce capable of addressing present and future national challenges. HICE 2026 is expected to serve as a major gathering point for key actors in the education sector, with a focus on improving teaching practice, strengthening professional development and advancing education reform across Nigeria.
