By Benjamin Njoku Ayodeji Emmanuel, a UK-based singer has lamented that Nigerian gospel artists rush to record without God’s guidance. He believes patience and divine direction are key to creating impactful music. “Publicity isn’t the challenge; once you sing His songs, the world will hear,” Ayo says. He notes the UK’s challenges, where Christianity is seen as a religion, not a lifestyle. Ayo’s journey started after he survived COVID-19 in Nigeria. He’s just authored his first book, “Move: It’s Time to Recover All,” and balances writing, academics, and music. Ayo described music as his ‘first love’, citing his CAC roots. “Music is my first love. I started very early at the age of seven in CAC (Christ Apostolic Church). As a young man, you don’t really know yourself until you begin to exploit the possibilities that God has placed inside of you.”he enthused. Ayo was not just a regular member of the music department of Rhema Chapel, Yaba, while he was still residing in Lagos. He desired to do more than be the lead singer or a back-up during church services, and so he was able to release a single titled “Set me on fire”. He has continued on that line even after relocating to England. Ayo has four singles to his credit, and is currently planning to drop a new album, and limits concerts to focus on God’s will.
