By Yusuf Ladan Gunmen have ransacked a police border checkpoint along the Bakin Ruwa–Maje road in Bagudu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing two police officers. The assailants, after killing the officers, also burnt down the tent used by the officers at the checkpoint. Eyewitnesses said the gunmen arrived in large numbers and opened fire, shooting indiscriminately at the checkpoint. Confirming the incident to Channels Television, the Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the attack resulted in the death of two officers who were on duty. He added that the gunmen also set the checkpoint tents ablaze. “They killed two of our officers and burnt down the checkpoint, but the police are on top of the situation. I will issue further details,” he said. This is the third recent attack along the Bakin Ruwa–Maje border, where gunmen had previously killed officers of the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service before the latest attack on the police.
