— Urges National Leadership to Intervene —insist party must remain law abiding By Dayo Johnson Akure The Oodua Progressive Youth League (OPYL) has warned that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is heading towards a deeper internal crisis and factionalisation if the national leadership failed to intervene in the crisis rocking the Ondo State chapter of the party. The warning followed the party’s decision to proceed with the state congress despite a Federal High Court injunction halting the conduct of the congress. Recall that the injunction was filed by aggrieved members of the party led by Lawrence Adebayo and 7427 other members. In a statement, OPYL’s General Secretary, Wale Abdulwaheed, described the development as “deeply concerning” and said the failure to address the situation promptly could push the party into a deeper internal crisis. He stated that proceeding with the congress amid a subsisting court order has generated tension and uncertainty among members in the state. Abdulwaheed emphasized that the APC is a law-abiding party built on democratic principles and that respect for judicial pronouncements is not negotiable. He urged the national leadership to intervene and restore calm, warning that prolonged litigation, factional divisions, and political instability could ensue if the issue isn’t addressed. “The APC is a law-abiding party built on democratic principles. It has always projected itself as a party that respects the rule of law and constitutional order. ” That reputation must not be compromised under any circumstance,” Abdulwaheed said. OPYL called on the National Working Committee to review the situation, engage stakeholders, and ensure unity and discipline are restored. They urged aggrieved members to remain calm and allow internal mechanisms to resolve the dispute. The youth organisation expressed concern that the ongoing dispute in Ondo APC could undermine the party’s operational structure and electoral prospects if not addressed promptly.
