Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has called on Nigerians to support efforts to tackle insecurity across the country. Yahaya made the appeal on Sunday while receiving Alhaji Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar III, the Emir of Gombe, on Sallah homage in Gombe. “Peace is key to societal development,” Yahaya said, stressing the need for collective support to promote peace and end insecurity in Nigeria. He urged Nigerians to cooperate with security agencies, noting that public support is crucial for intelligence gathering to combat the country’s security challenges. “Security should not be left to agencies or the government alone. It is a collective responsibility of all citizens,” Yahaya added. Citing recent bandit attacks in Bauchi communities, he decried the resulting displacement of several people now taking shelter in Gombe. Yahaya praised Gombe residents for ensuring peaceful coexistence, which he said allowed his administration to execute several projects for the people’s benefit. “I urge residents to maintain peace, strengthen vigilance, and support all efforts to make the state secure for everyone,” he said. Shehu-Abubakar, for his part, urged the public to sustain the prevailing peace, noting that Gombe State’s harmony persists despite diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds. The Emir commended Yahaya for implementing people-oriented projects and fulfilling his campaign promises to the residents. Vanguard News
