By Dapo Akinrefon The Gani Adams, Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, has condemned alleged plans by terrorists to attack communities in Oyun Local Government Area, including Ira, Inaja, and Aho. According to a statement, the threats—apparently issued in a letter dropped at Ira market—have heightened fear among residents, creating concerns about potential violence and insecurity in their daily lives. Adams called on the Federal Government of Nigeria, Kwara State authorities, and relevant security agencies to take proactive measures immediately to prevent the attacks. “I urge the Federal Government and the state government to intensify security measures, enhance intelligence sharing, and deploy adequate resources to prevent these attacks and protect innocent lives,” Adams said. He noted that recent intelligence indicates coordinated efforts by terrorist groups to inflict harm, spread fear, and destabilise communities in parts of the Southwest. He described such planned violence as a grave threat to public safety and wellbeing. Adams also urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and collaborate closely with security agencies to safeguard their communities. “The safety and security of Yorubaland and Yoruba-speaking communities in Kwara and Kogi States are paramount. We must stand united and resolute against terrorism and violence,” he said, stressing the need for collective action to preserve peace and bring perpetrators to justice.
